About Me

I’m Matty Bannond, a writer of short fiction — currently working on my first novel.

I was born and grew up in Stockport, which is close to Manchester, UK. I’m 33 years old, and currently live in Düsseldorf, Germany. I love music, and play the tenor saxophone in a six-piece jazz and funk band.

I also love writing. While studying for my bachelor’s degree at the University of East Anglia, I had the chance to take some classes within its world-famous writing school. I kept writing after graduating, and moved to Germany to complete a Master’s at Heidelberg University.

Then I stopped writing for about a decade. Things got in the way.

In early 2017, I decided to follow my passion for writing — and to share my stories. Since then, I’ve enjoyed encouraging responses from publications and competitions.

I’m currently working on my first novel (more information here).
